Allow disparagement but forbid mob justice and bullying
Allow disparagement but forbid mob justice and bullying. In Feabie's Law, it is stated that the reason for not allowing disparagement is to avoid breeding mob justice and bullying behaviour. Why not ban the problematic behaviour instead of bluntly banning disparagement, which does not necessarily lead to mob justice and bullying and can sometimes have positive impacts such as enabling members to warn others about poor behaviour of others, or express emotions of distress. Mob justice could be defined as a third party disparaging behaviour they did not directly experience. Bullying could be defined as (a) disparagement of a person in general, rather than of their behaviour and/or (b) making more than one disparaging post per behavioural incident. In other words, allow disparagement but only in the case where somebody disparages, a specific behavioural incident which, in their opinion, makes them feel uncomfortable, threatened or unsafe. One disparagement per behavioural incident. No third party disparagement. The incident in question must be made clear in the disparagement.
